Women in Physics Graduate Mentor: Intent on using my new position to uplift more junior scientists, I signed up to be a graduate mentor for the UC Merced chapter of Women in Physics. I am inspired by the community they have formed. I have made genuine connections with so many bright, ambitious physicists by munching on cookies with them at their meetings. Sustaining these connections, listening to these students, watching them grow, and cheering loudly for these women as they take the stage and adeptly present their senior research have been among my proudest accomplishments during my time at UC Merced.
Additionally, I look so forward to being a multi-panelist for the American Physical Society's (APS) Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP) 2023, hosted at UC Merced.
The Planetary Society Volunteer: I enjoyed volunteering at science marches and fairs where I ran a table for The Planetary Society that let children use photos they cut from magazines and button-makers to create pins for them to put on their shirts and backpacks. I got to talk with them about planets and galaxies - it brought me so much joy to watch their eyes glitter with enthusiasm for space!
Engineering Girls @ the Beach Day: This was a fun annual event put on by the CSULB chapter of Society of Women Engineers which brought over 100 elementary & middle school students on campus for all day STEM-related workshops (creating a slime ball from corn starch and ketchup, launching bottle rockets, and making ice-cream)!
